'Sweet game'
The legal representative, handling the case, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepson had concerns about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild notified the law enforcement about his concerns.
She explained the defendant continued to conduct the "candy game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member called the law enforcement once more.
She said the defendant then played the "candy game" in a area of five youngsters.
