I will overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" the American as the pair confronted each other to publicize next month's bout.

Former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's arena on December 19th.

Boxer's Attitude

"I will damage his features and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35, said.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to seriously aim to injure him. That's my intention."

Respectful Interaction

In spite of these statements, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - typically recognized for his showmanship - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted former Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is better than Fury - he's present here," Joshua said.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

Despite stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he stated.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Nevertheless, the inexperienced fighter is still one of the sport's biggest commercial attractions, frequently receiving substantial paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and stated he would prevent the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is allegedly being planned for 2026.

"It's going to be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul stated.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional confrontation, with their size difference on show, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the fight is actually happening.
