Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.
